All You Need To Know About Tube Expander Tools

Hydraulic tube expanders are round tube form expansion equipment used in the manufacturing of heat transfer, such as heaters and condensers for maintaining and molding pipe to tube sheets. A tube expander tool reduces the thickness of a tube wall by compacting the tube's outer diameter against a container. Many tube expander tools come in a collection of two or more sizes.

Building a Tube Expansion

A hydraulic tube expander is a tool employed to boost the diameter of metal tubing. The pipe expander is made up of several specific segments of steel that are wrapped around a-holes and secured with crescent nuts on every end. A spring enclosing each end holds the entire assembly together. The meeting is slid into the side of the pipework and tightened, looking to draw the wedge nuts within the steel sections. The wedges are forced outward and pulled into the sections, expanding the tubing.

1.      Roller

The roller gives rolling pressure inside of the pipe to facilitate plastic deformation. It got a trimmed shape and ensures that the interiors of expanded pipes always take on a round shape.

Furthermore, the roller tip has a seamless R-chamfer. That helps to avoid intense stress after pipe expansion and the formation of sharp edges on the interior of the pipes.

2.      Frame

The frame has the rollers in place at periodic gaps, preventing them from falling.

It gives the groove into which the wheel is inserted a feed angle. As a result, a configuration in which the mold is rotated anti-clockwise is achieved. As a result, a self-propulsion mech is created, resulting in automatic pipe expansion.

3.      Mandrel

The mandrel rotates the roller due to contact friction. It has the same tapered shape as the roller. Both the roller and the mandrel must be pressure and rubbing resistant. As a result, they use special steel and go through proper heat treatment before finishing with precision grinding.

4.      The bearing collar

The pipe Expander is equipped with a collar. Attaching a carrying collar reduces thrust during tube expansion while protecting the pipe end and tubing. Furthermore, the roller's length can be adjusted by moving the install position or forward-backward.

Tube Expansion Types

Tube expansion has two types: "parallel pipe expansion" and "flare pipe expansion."

·         Expansion of parallel tubes

Parallel pipe expansion is utilized to grow pipes in exchangers, vapor condensers, boilers, and other similar devices. The MB-type and CB-type tube expanders are appropriate for this type of work.

·         Flare tube enlargement

Flare pipe expansion broadens tubes by supplying a flared form to the ends of the pipes while also appearing as tensile stress reinforcement. This kind of pipe expansion is most commonly found in boiler tubes.BK-type tube expanders are used for this form of work.

When utilizing an expander on such a huge or heavy piece of pipework, it is frequently necessary to warm the tube to help it expand. When the tube is heated, it becomes more pliable, and the expander is not required to work as hard to expand it. Spray the interior of the tube with a lube, like oil, to help the tube expander slide inside the pipe as it opens.
